Sagebrush Dry Gear was founded in the early 2000s in Dillon, Montana, by Robbie and Elaine Garrett. When the company’s contract for making waterproof gear for a large outdoor gear company was diverted to factories outside of the US, the founders decided to move the company to Southeast Alaska, where they could live off grid and create bags in one of the rainiest places on earth. The company is currently located in Kake, Alaska, a small fishing town that is only accessible by boat or plane.
Current owner John Peterka relocated to Kake from Bozemam MT in 2017 after working for various outdoor companies in the industry. He was drawn to Sagebrush for the craftsmanship and high quality American made gear and way of life that Kake offers.
